I would hope to recreate this for my children in our weekend of unplugging, as well. I would keep the meals simple, but delicious, with hot dogs and hamburgers. We would finish it off with Marie Callender’s Blackberry Cobbler for a perfect ending to a long day spent outside in the fresh air and sunshine.

She eats exactly two kinds of mac n’ cheese: the kind at Ikea and Marie Callender’s. She won’t even eat my homemade mac n’ cheese. Needless to say, we eat the Vermont White Cheddar Mac n’ Cheese fairly often. I love it myself, so I end up making it almost every week!

Spring is here, and for my family, that means starting our small garden. We have a very small yard so a small garden works best for us. Regardless of the yard size, small gardens can be great for anyone because they are a lot less work than giant vegetable gardens. A family garden can be a project for everyone in the family to help plan, plant, care for, harvest and enjoy.

One of my favorite after school snacks as a child was peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with the crusts cut off. Whenever we were at our grandma’s house after school she would so kindly cut the crusts off our sandwiches. This was a real treat, and one my sister and I didn’t get on a regular basis, so we were always excited about this simple gesture by Grandma.
